13 Rural Teachers in Hechi Win China Candlelight Prize

Thirteen rural teachers from Hechi won the second "TCL Hope Project Candlelight Prize" recently, according to the municipal Youth League Committee, Hechi Daily reported on June 19.

A total of 300 rural teachers nationwide won the award and 15 were from the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

The TCL Hope Project Candlelight Prize was jointly established by China Youth Development Foundation and TCL Public Welfare Foundation. It aims to commend and encourage excellent rural primary school teachers and support educational development in impoverished rural areas.

The TCL Group is an outsize state holding enterprise engaged in product research, production and marketing of household appliances, information, communication and electrotechnical products. The TCL Public Welfare Foundation was initiated by the Group CEO Li Dongsheng in Shenzhen in June 2012. With an original fund of 10 million yuan ($1.61 million), the foundation is the first of its kind established by a consumer electronic company in China.
