Guangxi Hechi Commemorates World Red Cross Day

Hechi in Southwest China's Guangxi held a series of activities to commemorate the 68th World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day on May 8.

Over 30 volunteers publicized knowledge of health and collected blood and stem cells at Baima Pedestrian Street at 9 am. More than 10 people donated 4,000 milliliters of blood in total without paymentand five people donated their stem cells.

Later at 10:30 am, government officials visited senior people and children in the Jinchengjiang Welfare House, taking some articles for daily use. Volunteers from Hechi Vocational School performed songs and dances for the seniors.

Jinchengjiang Second Middle School held lectures and organized emergency drills to publicize knowledge of earthquake and fire fighting on the afternoon of the day. Over 2,000 people from places such as Red Cross Society, Hechi seismological bureau and Jinchengjiang district fire department participated in the activity.

Moreover, Hechi used TV and text messages to enhance people's sense of public spirit.
