Alexander Schulz Longest Distance Highline Walk in Guilin Breaks Guinness World Records

GUILIN, China -- Alexander Schulz from Germany managed to break the Guinness World Records' record for the longest distance walked on a highline in Guilin, Guangxi, where he spent days crossing a 375-meter-long rope while balancing 100 meters above ground - setting the new world record for the Longest distance walked on a highline, according to the World Record Academy.

The Guinness World Records' record for the longest distance by unicycle on a line of beer bottles is 7.99 m (26.21 ft) and was achieved by Lutz Eichholz (Germany) on the set of Lo Show Dei Record, in Milan, Italy on 25 March 2011.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most ropes skipped; it is 110 and was achieved by Wang Zhuoxin and the students of Da Sun Ge Zhuang Central Primary School (all China) in Beijing, China, on 20 August 2011.e

The 23-year-old highline walker along with his co-workers from the slacklining company One Inch Dreams secured the line between two limestone boulders in scenic Yangshuo county.

After three days of failed attempts, Schulz battled the elements, including strong winds and rain, and crossed from one side to the other, successfully toppling the previous record by 70 meters.

"Thirty meters before the end the wind was gone, but the fear of falling came up like never before," he was quoted as saying in a Daily Mail report. "When I touched the rock at the end of the line, my first words were 'it's surreal, I can't believe what just happened.'"
