Traditional Villages in Liuzhou Have Development Plans

The Guangxi Zhuang autonomous regional Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development recently examined 46 national traditional villages in the autonomous region, among which six are in Liuzhou. Development plans in the six villages passed the review.

National traditional villages refer to villages that were built before 1912, held unique cultural and historical characteristics, and have been inhabited over the years. The State Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the State Ministry of Culture have selected 646 qualified villages since May 2012.

The six Liuzhou villages on the list are: Pingmao, Dongtian and Rongdi in Rongshui Miao autonomous county, and Danzhou, Gaoding and Gaoyou in Sanjiang Dong autonomous county. Traditional buildings in the villages account for more than 70 percent of all buildings. In addition, Miao brocade and many traditional ethnic festivals are preserved in the villages.

Having passed the official regional review, development plans for the six villages will now be examined by the state ministry. After that, the plans will be published and put into effect.
